Three common failure forms of bearings
In many cases, the failure of bearings will lead to the machine can not function properly. What are the common failure forms of bearings? According to the working conditions of the bearing, the main failure modes are as follows: three kinds.
1, the pitting corrosion:
When the bearing is working, the contact surface between the rolling body and the raceway is affected by pulsating cyclic stress.
When the number of contact stress reaches a certain value, fatigue pitting will occur on the rolling or inner and outer raceway working face, resulting in the loss of working capacity of the bearing. Fatigue pitting is the main failure form of the bearing under normal working conditions. For the bearings with fatigue pitting as the main failure form, fatigue life calculation should be carried out.
2. Plastic deformation "permanent deformation":
In static or impact loading, local stress or rolling body raceway on the working surface of the bearing exceeds the yield strength of the material caused by long deformation, the bearing vibration and noise drastically in operation, that the bearing can not work normally. The plastic deformation is the main failure mode of bearings under low or heavy load and large impact. Static strength calculation should be carried out.
3, wear: due to improper maintenance and use of lubrication or improper sealing, etc., will cause excessive wear of bearings. To prevent and reduce wear, speed of work shall be limited. Lubrication and sealing shall be enhanced.
The bearings are improperly installed, disassembled and used. It will cause other failures such as bearing element rupture, and corresponding measures should be taken to prevent it.
